Freedom Bluetooth Keyboard and the Nokia 6680
These are some notes about using the Freedom Bluetooth Keyboard with the Nokia 6680 mobile (cell) phone.
I bought this keyboard on eBay where there are various versions of it sold under different brand names. Mine was branded Dopod.
The installation notes that came with it worked well. But I found that there was many things I could do with the keyboard that were not documented. These notes describe those extra features.
Firstly I found it best to turn off T9 (dictionary) mode when using the keyboard. It seems to get in the way at times. In particular when using backspace to correct mistakes (the cursor seems to jump around in an odd way!).
Shortcuts
Ctrl (control) key +
6 = left menu
7 = right menu
T = Call
Y = hangup
G = Voice recorder
Fn (function) key +
Ctrl = switch to accented keys (eg: typing A results in é)
Caps Lock = Num Lock (activates number pad using 8,9,0,-;u,i,o,p;j,k,l,:;m,<,>,?)
backspace (top right key) = profile switch
Tab = exit current app, press again and phone switches to calendar!
up arrow = go to start of document
down arrow = go to end of document
left arrow = go to start of line
right arrow = go to end of line
Note: No shortcut for the dictionary key (the one with a little pencil)
Note: holding the menu key activates the app switcher just as it does on the handset.
Note: some menu items can be selected with the Enter key but not all! Best to always use the select key (circle with a dot in it)
